Cherokee Village has seven private lakes that offer plenty of outdoor recreation. These lakes are operated by the Cherokee Village Suburban Improvement District (SID) for the use and enjoyment of property owners and their guests. Lake Patrol officers monitor the lakes to make sure all boats are in compliance with state and local regulations, and that all users of the lakes are property owners and/or their registered guests.


Lake Aztec
Nestled in Cherokee Village, Arkansas, Lake Aztec spans 19.3 acres of peaceful beauty. Perfect for fishing, swimming, canoeing, and quiet no-wake boating, it’s a serene spot to unwind and enjoy nature’s calm waters and scenic surroundings.

Lake Chanute
Lake Chanute is a peaceful 65-acre gem in Cherokee Village with 2.273 miles of shoreline. Ideal for fishing, swimming, canoeing, and no-wake boating, it offers a quiet, scenic escape for relaxing days on the water.

Lake Cherokee
Lake Cherokee is a scenic 37‑acre lake in Cherokee Village with 1.461 miles of shoreline and depths reaching 40 feet. Enjoy fishing, swimming, canoeing, and no‑wake boating, plus a picturesque waterfall where the lake flows into and through Papoose Park.

Lake Navajo
Lake Navajo is a peaceful 34‑acre lake in Cherokee Village with a maximum depth of 25 feet, perfect for fishing, swimming, no‑wake boating, and canoeing. Nestled among quiet neighborhoods and park‑lined shores, it offers a calm, scenic setting where residents and visitors enjoy relaxing days on the water and easy lakeside recreation.

Lake Omaha
Lake Omaha is Cherokee Village’s second‑largest lake, spanning 139 acres with 4.7 miles of shoreline and depths up to 40 feet. Known for its peaceful waters and excellent fishing, it welcomes boating, water‑skiing, tubing, swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. The lake features a marina with a boat ramp, and slips available for annual rental, offering convenient access while preserving the quiet, scenic Ozark‑lake atmosphere.

Lake Sequoyah
Lake Sequoyah is a serene 75.5‑acre lake in Cherokee Village with 2.361 miles of shoreline and a maximum depth of 55 feet. Ideal for fishing, swimming, no‑wake boating, canoeing and kayaking, it features the Gitche Gummee Swimming Beach and a connecting channel that allows boat access between Lake Sequoyah and Lake Thunderbird for easy exploration and fun on both lakes.

Lake Thunderbird
Lake Thunderbird is Cherokee Village’s largest and most popular lake, spanning 264 acres with 7.2 miles of shoreline and depths up to 75 feet. It welcomes boating, water‑skiing, tubing, fishing, swimming, kayaking, and canoeing, and features a full‑service marina with boat rentals, making it the vibrant heart of lakeside recreation in the community.
